Leaving the classroom to early
Do you think a lot of administrators wish they were still in the classroom. It seems to me from talking to some of them that they took administrative positions and sometimes wish that they were back in the classroom. I think it would be hard to take a pay decrease after being an administrator.

I know alot of new administrators who left the classroom too early. The reason that I keep hearing as to why is money. I know it takes alot of money to live and raise a family, but getting up everyday and hating your job has to count for something. It seems to me that once you take that step into administration it is hard to go back to teaching. Do you think if you do go back to teaching it hurts your chances of ever getting back into administration at a later date?
I think the success of being an administrator is in the mind shift not the pay increase. As a teacher you are in the trenches day in and day out fighting to make every child succeed. As an administrator that changes a bit. You are still there for the children, but you are in the trenches day in and day out struggling to support, motivate, and encourage your teachers to help every child succeed. I watched my husband go through "the change" as he moved from math teacher to principal and I am sure that he has influenced my progression as well. I started this program almost two years ago, but was not ready. I had not yet made the shift in my mind. I now feel that I have made the shift and am eager to finish this program and begin to impact teachers as I have impacted students.
